RATH GROUP ACQUIRES
WESTERWALD INDUSTRIEKERAMIK GmbH
Wilmington, DE, May 2000 - Rath Performance Fibers, Inc., a leading manufacturer of
ceramic fiber products for high temperature applications to 3300o F, announces that its parent company, The Rath Group, has acquired Westerwald Industriekeramik GmbH, Germany.
This acquisition was a joint decision by Rath GmbH, Meissen, Germany and the Oberland Glas AG in Bad Wurzach.
Rath will assume production of Westerwald's line of ALPORIT lightweight insulation bricks (for temperatures up to 1500oF), as well as its line of acid resistant bricks.
Rath will move production of the Alporit insulation bricks line to their newly expanded production facility in Bennewitz, Germany; acid brick production will
remain in the Westerwald area to ensure consistent raw material supplies. "With Rath's reputation as a leader in refractory materials, customers can be assured that the alporit brick line will continue to be
produced to the highest quality they have come to expect," said Dr. Rath, company President.
With this acquisition, The Rath Group now operates six facilities - in Austria, Germany and Hungary - to produce materials for high temperature application
(up to 1800oC).
